Government initiatives using information and communications
technologies include:
- Internet publication to improve access to information and services,
specially important for remote locations
- Internet-based information systems with restricted sharing enabling
inter-department or remote unit reporting and collaboration
- Sharing corporate services across whole-of-government and the
public sector, including Supply (eProcurement), integrated
Human-Resource management, Finance, Asset systems and Reporting
systems
- Promoting transport systems through online journey planning
supported by effective technical mapping and geographic
information
- Enhancing performance of existing transport infrastructure and
services
- Integrated Courts Management Systems (whole-of-justice approach to
managing case flow) incorporating criminal, financial and enforcement
systems in the Supreme, District and Magistrates’ Courts
- Converting historic, paper-based records to electronic format with
wider data sharing
- Integrating advanced technologies with global positioning, remote
sensing, auto-detection identification and tracing systems (for
example, to ensure protection of the natural environment, or maintain
animal and plant health, or monitor agricultural product quality and
safety)
