DEC provides leadership on key environmental and conservation issues in Western Australia, including the protection, conservation, sustainable use and enjoyment of the natural environment.
DEC has selected iDelve as the Web mapping engine for all its publicly-accessible spatial Web applications released after 2004 because of its interactivity, intuitiveness and speed, combined with centralised data administration using the Department's existing ArcSDE and Oracle infrastructure, and rich but simple to configure “out of the box” capability. iDelve is used for the department’s public web applications and internal intranet systems.
Native Vegetation Monitoring
DEC’s Native Vegetation Monitoring application assists the public, business and government to manage clearing of native vegetation in environmentally sensitive areas. It is especially useful to companies in the resource sector whose mining tenements can be visualised clearly on a map in relation to any clearing restrictions (the tenement layer is updated monthly).
